8:00ams

8:00am classes, endearingly referred to as "8ams," are the bane of my existence. I still go to bed around 1am, like the average college girl, but waking up before 7 every morning has begun to take a toll on me (bye bye clear skin!)

to make lemonade out of this, as the saying goes, I can say that they have made me much more of a morning person. now, even on the weekend, I'm like woohoo and let's go do stuff at 10am while the rest of my bed remains asleep and tells me to shut up.

I'm gonna be honest with you, it is hard to stay awake during some classes at 8 in the morning, especially finance. but it's practice for the real world because morning meetings in the real world do exist, and falling asleep in those doesn't earn just a stare from your superior.. but that's what frappuccino bottles are made for.

bookcovers

ok so like no one in college uses books covers. and here i am, with my stretchy, psychedelic book covers still going strong from middle school. but i don't get why people stopped using book covers. is it because you don't have to give the books back at the end of the year, so it doesn't matter what condition they're in? well i know a lot of college kids that resell their books after the course ends.. i definitely do. in fact, this one time, i bought a used book and it was in pristine condition, so i kept it that way and then sold it as new at the end of the semester. made a profit! booyah, bookcover-haters. i will always love my stretchy bookcovers.

yogurt

there's just something about yogurt that makes it the perfect snack anytime. and companies have realized this too. the yogurt section and selection at walmart is almost as varied as the cheese section. there's yogurt with fruit in it, yogurt with fruit on the bottom, some with the fruit on top, lactose-free yogurt, yogurt with mix-ins such as m&m's and oreo, greek yogurt, low fat, full fat, fat free, all sorts of flavors. it's crazy how many types of yogurt there are. i just bought the yoplait oreo yogurt and it comes in this mini size, about enough for five of six loaded spoonfuls, and the lid contains oreo cookie crumbs, which you can shake out over your yogurt as needed. i shake out a little bit at a time, replenishing the crumbs after every bite. it's absolutely perfect.

chapstick classic

there's just something about the classic ChapStick. the one with the black label and pink lip balm. i am usually swayed by branding and all, but this is different. just the way that it's smooth and the way my hair doesn't stick to my lips after i put it on. and the smell. it has a subtle smell that is somehow nostalgic and connects me to some distant childhood memory i cant even remember.

waiting

man i hate waiting. whether it's for something good or bad, i just can't take the wait.

brevity

i enjoy reading anything not lengthy. like picture captions, short stories, short magazine articles, tweets, backs of cereal boxes. novels are great, but it takes a lot more talent to convey a full thought in much smaller amount of words. the best conversations aren't remembered by the whole discussion, but rather a phrase or couple of sentences that were spoken. it's those few words that stick out, that sum up the greatness.
even in long novels, it's not the whole novel that is great. ask anyone that has a favorite novel, and they will point you to the page containing their favorite paragraph or favorite line. because that is what's important.

chai

Chai is basically brewed black tea, boiled with ginger, cardamom, sugar, milk and sometimes spices. I'm not a big fan of chai, but I always take a cup whenever offered. It's more for the sentiment and the cultural tug than the taste.

reading

Do you ever think about how weird reading is?

Our eyes are able to scan all these different symbols and then construct the scenarios and concepts they describe in our mind.

And these concepts have the power to twist our emotions, and make us cry and laugh, and wow reading is weird.
